Love is blind but Friendship is Clairvoyant   

The words ‘Love is blind’ were originally created by Shakespeare in his play The Merchant Of Venice, when Jessica, the daughter of Shylock the Jew, leaves her father’s house in the darkness of night. While handing over the casket to her lover Lorenzo, she says:

But love is blind and lovers cannot see

The pretty follies that themselves commit;

Jessica herself exemplifies the blindness of her love by defying her filial duties towards her father and eloping away with her lover.

This apart, it has been found by research published in NeuroImage by the University College London that the feelings of love suppress the critical activity of the brain. When we talk of love, we do not mean spiritual love. We usually mean physical love that satisfies the carnal desires or passions. The fury of carnal desires that such a love evokes makes a person blind to reason. This type of relationship is misnamed as love. It is, in fact, infatuation, a blind pursuit and madness.

For example, one fundamental principle that decides the endurability of love is the compatibility and the conductivity of personal traits of both the lovers. If you fall for the body of the person and not the spirit or the nature that is hidden within, you are acting blindly. It has been rightly observed that the relationship based on blind physical love becomes monotonous and boring after a short span of time, while friendship grows and flourishes as the time passes.
